The area of hydroacoustics

The scope of activity of the Hydroacoustic Team
  • Design, construction and maintenance of active and passive hydroacoustic systems (sonars, echosounders, underwater communication systems, sound velocity profiler, docking systems, etc.).
  • Design, construction and maintenance of hydroacoustic systems simulators and trainers.
  • Ultrasonic measuring technique,
  • Development of digital sonar signal processing methods in the field of:
    • spatial filtration (beamforming, scanning),
    • detection and estimation of hydroacoustic signals parameters,
    • estimation of the spatial spectrum,
    • visualization methods of hydroacoustic signals, especially sonar ones.
  • Design, construction and maintenance of ultrasound transducers and antennas, including multi-element matrices and their encapsulation with polyurethane layers.
  • Optimization of sonar parameters and underwater communication systems in extremely difficult propagation conditions in shallow waters.
  • Ultrasonic measuring technique.
  • Design, construction and maintenance of specialized embedded systems and other electronic systems in the field of:
    • microprocessor systems,
    • DSP processors,
    • FPGA programmable matrices,
    • multi-channel data acquisition systems and signal generation,
    • digital data transmission systems in LVDS technology,
    • low-power analog circuits (amplifiers, filters, generators, mixers, control systems, etc.),
    • high-power systems (switching power amplifiers, power supplies).
  • Conducting researches and measurements of hydroacoustic devices parameters at the Hydroacoustics Research Laboratory of the Gdańsk University of Technology (Accreditation of the Polish Accreditation Center No.AB 1606) at the measurement pools of the Gdańsk University of Technology and at the inland training ground placed in the Hydroacoustic Research Station by Lake Wdzydze.
  • Design, construction and maintenance of mechanical systems related to the sonar technoque such as:
    • watertight pressure enclosures for electronic devices,
    • specialized operator consoles,
    • stabilization systems for hydroacoustic antennas,
    • hydraulic control and automation systems.
